Piece of cake, but hard to describe!
Once the door is opened, the upper access side-hole's plug is removed &
you can see the door handle's "serrated-looking" flat-section lift
lever, which has a central "slot", for nut-adjustment positioning, which
regulates the amount of that lever's movement, as it lifts-against/moves
the door-lock's engagement.
What I have had to do, is take a drill, & ELONGATE the lever's slot, to
INCREASE the amount of "lift/pull" that the lever exhibits, onto the
lock-lever, and, have installed another ("helper") nut- and-bolt onto
that slot-lever's nut's connection, with the door lock lever, so that
there is no 'slippage', in that connection, which had occurred, due to
wear-and-tear on the "connection" , from years' door openings.
Simple/effective solution.

Anyone have any suggestions to get the driver's door to open from the
outside on a '57 Dodge? The car is a 4 door and all the doors open
fine from the inside but the driver's door doesn't open from the
outside. I've tried adjusting the little nut from the access hole but
didn't have any luck. Any thoughts anyone? I've seen this problem
many times before in other forwardlook cars but just lived with it.
I'd like to try and finally conquer this needling problem thanks, Nick
