Boy, does that take me back... It was the summer of 1956, I was going to start third grade soon, the folks stopped at the Polar King drive in to get us ice cream cones. That brand new 1956 gas power kid car being raffled off had my name on it. I just KNEW that if my folks would only spend the measly 75 cents for a raffle ticket that car was mine. Having survived the Great Depression and WW II, they just knew I'd have as much luck lending the six bits to a bum and hoping he'd strike it rich and look me up. When my whining got to a break even point, hushing me up seemed like a bargain at 75 cents. That was about an hour's earnings at minimum wage in 1956. --Roger van Hoy, Washougal, WA, '55 DeSoto, '58 DeSoto, '56 Plymouth, '66 Plymouth, '41 Dodge P.S. There's no kiddie drive report sequel, at least not from me; some other little whiner got my car and I learned a valuable lesson that summer. ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Wallace" <dswallace@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, May 31, 2006 3:21 PM Subject: [FWDLK] This is worth a look http://www.powercarcompany.com/ ************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options, please go to http://lists.psu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=l-forwardlook&A=1
