Ron, On my 55 Plymouth, I removed the little stainless steel wind deflectors from the 2 front doors to have the car body work done and repainted. They were attached with rivets that were rusting. I obtained some stainless steel rivets and they worked out well and did not rust as the originals. I'm not sure if the rivets you are talking about are of the same kind, but if they are, I'd get some stainless steel ones. I got mine from a friend that had a metal shop.
