Re: [FWDLK] AMP light flashing

Treid checking the actual output of the generator with an ammeter? I would
think checking the amps at the generator and at the regulator might help
narrow down the cause of the problem.

It's been a long time since I messed with a generator car on a regular
basis, I used to wear out the brushes in mine pretty regular. Seems as
though I got a light on when there was no charge. The fact that your light
goes out above certain speeds might indicate it's output related, but then
if you rev the motor up to a higher RPM that should also make it go out.

That it flashes might point to the regulator, even though it's been changed.
Maybe the method used to polarize the system should be reviewed? Most of
the time, the thing either works, or doesn't. That you've changed
everything out would seem to me to point to either a loose connection, your
polarization method isn't working, or you got two bad components in a row
(which can happen).

I can add this much; be careful with the regulator - I almost burned up a
car messing with one when I should have replaced it; some contacts stuck
when I shut the car off one night and it put a direct short across the
battery - via the ammeter on the dash. I had to replace a bunch of wiring
and the car never has cranked off the ignition key switch since then.
