Re: [FWDLK] Emergency Brake Shoes

As I found out last year even nos linings are not with out their flaws. I got a set of nos brake shoe's off ebay , even after 45 years sitting on a shelf the glue that holds the lining in place was braking down, causing the lining to come off . In my opinion it is better to have them re-lined. At least you should have some sort of warranty with them.

Joe,

I agree with Dave. I got very lucky when I found a set of NOS shoes for my ?62 727 TorqueFlite for $5, which are the same as my old PowerFlite. All of the internal parts are the same. I vote for re-lining, which will probably be the cheapest way to go. Check with your local full service brake parts supply house. They can re-line anything.

I use my local Brake Warehouse (612-378-3141). I just called them. Their computer says they have a re-lined set in inventory for $25 exchange, but the core charge is an additional $100.

I must admit I know of no vendor that are reproducing the parking brake shoe's. You might have to have your old ones re- lined , or find a set of nos ones. Last year I rebuilt the brakes on my Imperial & it was the only part I could not get. Powerflite & Torqueflite ones will interchange.

Says they show a 2"x7" size for the listing.  Sound right?

2" x 7" sounds about right.  The only thing I have for comparison is the set for my 1957 Chrysler.  If needed, I could go out to the garage and measure them for you.
