Ray, & List, in 1957, only the Custom Royals & the Custom Sierra S/W's had carpeting. The Coros & Royals had rubber floor mats, but the Royals had color-coordinated mats, while the Coros had only black-colored mats, UNLESS the Coro had the "Custom Coronet" trim option, which featured a notched front seat back (instead of a straight-across seat back), special "Star Dot" upholstery, a 3" strip of chrome-mylar trim, across the tops of the door & 1/4 trim panels, AND color-coordinated rubber floor mats. ANY carpeting, appearing in a 57 Coro or Royal was installed @ sometime AFTER the car left the factory. In 58, the Royals got: " ..beautiful deep pile carpeting", too, but the Coros, and the Sierra & Suburban S/W's, still had black rubber floor mats, UNLESS the Coro was a "Custom Coronet" model, which had 'similar' accoutrements, as to the 57's, EXCEPT that they also DID have color-coordinated CARPETING . So, to have carpeting in a 58 Coro, "you" need the special "Trim" coding, on the Paint/Trim plate, notched front seat, special upholstery, & mylar-clad interior trim panels.
