Re: [FWDLK] Flocking Roof-rail Weatherstrips

Ron, et al, On/in my dad's bought-new 57 CRL 2-dr, I distinctly remember
(being a permanent resident of the rear seat) that the rear windows
"worked", with some difficulty, but, I don't recall having to
pull-forward the 1/4 windows, in order to 'complete' the window-raising
operation.

Of course, as a 7+ Y.O., the rear windows DID get a work-out (no such
thing as wimpy-ol' AIR-conditioning, for WE, in Toledo, in the
summertime!.)

Ron had PM'ed me, saying that HE discovered, on his O.E.M. roof rail
weatherstrip, that someone had "scalped" the 'ceiling' of that
weatherstrip, as I have advised, in order to make/allow the rear hartop
windows to operate
well.

Ron's conclusion is (& I concur) that the roof rail weatherstrips
(probably) never 'worked' correctly----probably due to an engineering
SNAFU; remember, the 57's were completely designed & brought to
production with only 2 years lead-time, instead of the normal-3-years'
time, & that the revolutionarily-low roofline was
relatively VERY diificult to create, as evidenced
by the copious front & rear & side window leakages.
