For one, the Fury has an aluminum piece on the deck lid that the Belvedere
didn't, if off the car there should be a few holes from it.

The VIN is the main thing, though.  A Fury VIN should start with a 331,
while a Belvedere could be 221 or 321.  A Savoy would be 211 or 311.  The
first symbol tells you if it's a six-cylinder (2) or V8 (3), the second is
model (1=Savoy, 2=Belvedere, 3=Fury).  The third digit tells the model year
(1=1961).  Next digit tells what factory made it and the rest is the
sequential number.  Most of the VIN tags I have, the first 4 digits can be
raised, while the sequential number may be stamped or raised but usually
appears slightly different.


The same series symbols should also appear on the body plate, on the cowl -
three digits, begins 1 2 or 3 and includes two more digits to ID the body
style.   At least if I read the book right.  That plate has a lot of other
data on it, but a 341, 343, 323 or 327 would indicate a Fury (sedan, 4dr ht,
2dr ht, convert respectively).  Maybe someone else can shed some more light
on this - it might be more important since the VIN tags are prone to falling
off at least on NYS cars -
