[FWDLK] New (sort of) member

Hi list!

I've been gone for the last three years or so, but I
have since returned to the list. I'm Dave, from
central Massachusetts (still snowing here), and I own
a 1961 Newport, and a few other non-fwdlk classics.

It's good to be back and while I'm here, I have a
burning question that applies to any car with a manual
tranny. A friend's father recently drove her car and
to "save gas" he drove it about 25 MPH in fifth gear.
I told her this was bad, she asked me why, and I
didn't know the proper response. Any thoughts from
this marvelous fount of automotive knowledge? Thanks
