If you understand what equipment was optional on
1961 dodge models you would know that the backup lights were optional on
all models including the Polara as well as the plastic steering
wheel with two tone , chrome horn bar (standard with automatic
transmission and power steering). The wheel that is on the car in question
is a rubber one-tone painted horn bar which was used with standard
transmission only. As you can see this car has a standard transmission and
probably no power steering. The Seneca was the bottom of line car in the
dart line in 1961 and I have seen many of these cars without back up lights
and the optional wheel.
The upper larger tailights were not used until June
of 1961 when they were standard on all dart models so unless they were taken off
during the restoration it must be a car built before June of '61...
I hope this clears up any confusion!!! This
car looks correct....

I
took a quick glance at this car and im wondering does anyone else notice that
doesnt have any backup lights? Also the steering wheel looks just like the one
in my 57 Dodge. It must be a very early model also because it lacks the
larger tail lights they put on the later models.
