Pretty funny all this talk about how fast our cars were........Just a quick
story for everyone....
I grew up in Fremont California, just a couple of miles from the
Fremont Dragstrip. I spent my youth sneaking into the place and
watching the blown hemi's thunder down the track. It was a great place to spend
your extra time as a youngster, let me tell you. Fast forward many years
later....The track is closing and they're having "The Last Drag Race" (I
still have the t-shirt, much to my wife's dismay), so I decide to run my 57
Plymouth in the grudge match. I pull the hubcaps and ziptie a wooden block to
the back of the accelerator pedal, make it all the way to the semi finals and
loose to a blown 440 Challenger. I still have the photos and the timeslips from
all my runs....best et........20.20 at 56 mph.
