The American-style Dodge was exported with Dodge engines. Canadian-built Dodge Custom Royal models (the only US-style Dodge built in Canada 1955-59) used different engines from the American model, both for the Canadian and export markets. In 1956 the Canadian C.R. came with a 303, 1957 - 313, 1958 - 354 and 1959 -361. The small Plymouth-sized Dodges used Plymouth engines on both sides of the border. The six-cylinder engines in Canadian models were different from 1938 to 1959 while the V8 engines were the same in 1955 (imported blocks) and 1956. 1957 they used the 303, and from 1958 to 1964 the 313. The export version of the Plymouth-based Dodge was called the Kingsway from 1946 to 1959. The 1956 Dodge Sport Suburban was basically a Plymouth Sport Suburban with a Dodge front clip. Do not have production figurex for individual models, but 1956 production of Mayfair (sedans and hardtops) and Sport Suburban models, which were available only with a V8 in Canada, came to 3,959. Chrysler Canada built a total of 33 Kingsway Custom (Mayfair) 6-cylinder 4-door sedans in 1956.
