My 57 Dodge liked to run warm. I only ever saw it
overflow once (at first I thought someone spilled one of those mint milkshakes
in the spot before I parked there). There were a couple other times, for
instance on the way home from the airport, where it ran warm doing 65 on the
highway. I put a 160 thermostat in it and never really had any problems
after that. It was a 2 speed w/325 poly and after the switch seemed to run
about the same temp almost any time be it at idle, in city traffic, or on the
freeway. When I "sold" it to the infamous "MagnumGuy", I drove it about
1-1.5 hours to meet up with him, and he drove it about 1.5-2 hours home, mostly
at speeds around 55 if I recall, and as far as I know the temp was
fine.
I'd definitely tend to think your car should not be
overheating on a sub 70 degree day...however, if it does remain a problem, I'd
be more than happy to take the car off your hands for ya.

trust the temp GAUGE? :-)
My thought is you ought to take it to a reputable
shop so some sort of flow-test can be performed on the block...boil-over in 70
degree weather? Not acceptable!

New thought.... my heat riser flapper thing on the replaced manifold is
a little tight. if that sticks, could it cause the engine to run too
hot?
