Ok, here's the Cliff's-Notes version, from last night:
Re: 1958 power steering system, from my long
association with late-50's MoPar restorer - extraordinaire, Greg
Leggatt, of Napanee, Ontario (see, I'm NOT making-this-up!) , Greg
has encountered considerable 'problems' with the performance of 1958 P/S
systems, to the extent that he will "replace" them with 1959 P/S
systems, when he restores his cars. I understand that the 1959 units
are either externally-identical, or very-similar to '58's.
The 1957 system was relatively "bullet-proof" in its reliability-as
evidensed by H's system, which worked fine, til it started to leak--and
the
replacement wrecking-yard unit that I had be overhauled, & installed, is
working perfectly.
I have Greg's email address, & don't know if he's a "member" , here, but
as I don't recall ever seiing a post, from him, I'll not c.c. him, now,
to protect his privacy--however, I'll be glad to pass-on any of your
"follow-ups", directly to him, if you want to discuss his experiences,
further.
