Would those be the springs that hook around the post at the top center of the backing plate? (I'm going from a GM here, I'd need to check the book to see if the MoPar is similar). I get them on by hooking a screwdriver under the hook on the spring and using it like a pry bar, pulling the hook past where it has to go - as long as you pivot close to or at the same point as the post, when you pull past it the spring slides down the screwdriver and usually I can get it right on where it belongs in a couple tries, it just pops into place.
