An early B body( 62-70) rearend is just about perfect, the later ones are a bit wider. I have an Ebody one I am lining up right now. Its a couple of inches wider but the axle housing is more recessed in the backing plate and with the new style rims I have the track looks like it will be within a half inch, so nothing rim offsets won't take care of. Spring perches will have to be moved. The F body rearends are also the right width but I didn't have any luck locating the type that would take the lower ratios and it ended up being cheaper and easier to get the 8 3/4 ebody.
