Bob,
Mounted on the trans? most likely that's the neutral safety switch on the
trans most of the early Mopars I've been around have had the back-up
switch mounted on the back of the push button shift mechanism. Look
behind the push buttons, it's possible the switch may have just come
loose and is out of adjustment.
