Brion - I used a mechanical brake lite switch out of a '75 Plymouth Duster. Hooks up under dash by brake pedal. A simple way to experiment trying to hook up switch to pedal or whatever under dash is to position it where it will work properly and then clamp it with a small c-clamp.
