Hello,
I guess my reply did not make it to this list the first time, so here it is again:
My 73 charger was a 24,850 mile (yes, your read that right) documented survivor. This car was all original when I found it, save for some collision damage to the right rear quarter that happened in the mid 70's. It succumbed to the rust monster though. It was an original Ohio car. It was wearing all the original plugs, wires, hoses, belts, clamps, bolts, etc. All the markings were intact as well as the original tires. The seat covers had been replaced because the shoulder belts wore through the tops of the seats. I took a ton of photos of the car as I disassembled it and they clearly show the little "L" that appeared on the lug nuts. Also this car came with 14" rallye wheels and so the faces of the rear drums were painted red. This practice was thought discontinued in 71 as well.
Just goes to show that you can never say never in this hobby,
See Ya,

Just because a car in a junkyard had LH threads does not mean they were
installed at the factory. Just as many car owners replace LH threads with
RH threads, someone may have scavenged parts off a pre-1970 Mopar for his
late 1970's unit. Probably with the intention of saving a few bucks that
way.
As stated by a few members, 1970 was the last year Chrysler used LH threads
on their cars. From 1971 and on it was RH threads on both sides of the car,

I beg to differ. I pulled a set of road wheels
off a late 70's wagon at a yard and it had LH lugs on the driver's
side.

LH lug nuts went away with the 71 models.
If the 73 Charger had LH lugs, I don't think it was built with them.
Maybe someone "backdated"?

Hello, Thanks for the FYI guys. I know my 73
Charger has them on the driver's (or left) side. I took it in for an
alignment at a local shop and when I got it back it had 2 lugs on the
front broken off. The guy tried to tell me they were frozen and that
he was a "mopar" guy and knew about the nuts. Good trick considering
I had just replaced the ball joints and all the front suspension rubber
pieces myself. People like that I tell to go work on a Honda, and
leave my blessed Mopars alone. It was my fault though, I should have
checked them out better. Live and learn. As for the other
parts, let me know when I can get a kenueter
valve.

Well first of all, I believe
the driver's side is LH thread, not the passenger as the article
indicates. Also, anybody who calls themself a mechanic should be full
aware that things go both ways like that. On another
note, anyone know where I can get a lower radiator hose for my Corvair? Or
maybe some muffler bearings?

has a
nicely written article regarding Chrysler's left hand threaded lug nuts
and explaining why the practice was dropped and where it came back
too!
Good reading.
