That's exactly the problem in my '86 Merury... The park switch is bad, and the wipers have been on for a month. I've been going through a lot of the blue stuff, but it's easier than digging that motor out in the cold & snow. I disconnect the park circuit when it's not wet. -Dave -----Original Message----- From: Philippe Courant [mailto:accf-club@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Saturday, January 04, 2003 4:02 AM To: L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [FWDLK] wipers--no shut off Yes, good idea to check ground... I remember i 've a similar problem 6 months ago with my '57 Imp. The problem came not from the motor but from wiring: the windshield washer pedal is connected with the wiper (when you push the washer pedal the wipers make a travel) and there was a bad ground in the pedal switch. I've shortened the washer switch and all is fine. So check if the wiper wiring is connected to this pedal (i'm not sure all cars had this feature) and if so email privatly me i'll give you the wires to short Problem could also comes from the automatic "parking" switch in the motor. It's a small switch actuated by a rotating cam. On my motor (57) you've to remove the front cover (3 screws ?) to access. Not need to remove the assembly from the dash. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- 2003 Calendar voting results and ordering information is online!
