Re: John (WI) & Jack (PA) , & all-you other 'weather-lovers' out there, as you sit around your fireplaces & woodstoves, tonite, I'm gonna tell you about an absolutely- straight, rust-free, 57 Coronet 2-dr hardtop,Coral-&-white, with gold-&-black interior, featuring the "Custom" trim option, dual antennae, padded dash, 2-tone steering wheel, and (incorrect) D500 engine & emblem, that's been 4-sale now, for over a year! I saw the car , last year, @ Fall-Fling, @Woodley Park, in L.A. . Price, then, was $7,500.00. The car "needs" everything-done to it, but, it's "all" there--virtually no body/trim hunting necessary, other than interior (available from SMS, in Portland, OR). The headliner is dirty, but intact. Needs a padded dash (from Just Dashes). I think it had manual brakes, but 'now' has a very-old aftermarket 'booster', but a correct vacuum-tank, so mebbe the original 'booster' was replaced! It's got power steering. It's even got 1 1/2 exhaust deflectors! (both of 'em are restorable, but 1 is missing its 'belly-panel'. Re: non-correct D500 engine, & emblem, last year the engine was 'apart', & the car was on a trailer. The Paint/Trim plate indicates that the Scheduled build-date was 6/11 , and the car was (" SUPPOSED") to have been built as a 'regular' Coro. , in L.A. factory. Its "present" D500 engine has a casting date of 5/27/57, which is reasonably-close to its "build-date" , so-as to have had the engine (or, its P/T plate info) to have been a "manufacturing mistake". The D500 emblem ,due to the body-paint, & the emblem's appearance, indicate that the emblem has been 'on' the trunk, for a VERY long time! The car's owner was supposed to re-bring the car to Fall Fling, last weekend, but, reportedly, had a towing-rig breakdown, & so, didn't do it. "Now", the engine has been "re-assembled", but NOT overhauled, & it doesn't-start, but does turn-over, manually, so, it's not 'stuck', but, obviously, needs a complete O/H, which the owner states that he can-do, as he "builds race-engines". I only met the owner, last year, but he has remained in contact, with me. Hopefully, the car will find a "good" home; it's actually "an easy" (but expensive) restoration. The car is in Hesperia CA, a coupla hours east of L.A. . It's owner is Bob Conn, who can be reached @ 760- 935-3510. Oh, yeah; he is "motivated" to sell the car, & the price is 'down' to $5,500.00 (obo!) . Neil Vedder sunny/warm ( but dark!) CA -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Need an answer fast?
