Re: [FWDLK] 331 hemi timing check



Probing the piston will get you close enough to tdc for valve adjustments
but at top dead center the piston will not appear to move through several
degrees of crankshaft movement, it can be done with a probe if you mark the
damper where the probe is just touched by the piston and then go past tdc
until the probe isn't touched by the piston then rotate the engine backwards
until the piston just touches the probe again then mark the damper again at
that position, tdc will be midway between these marks. (this method was used
while timing a Radial engine at Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa,
Oklahoma using a probe and a degree wheel.)
