I installed the kit on my 1956 New Yorker with factory power brakes, however I installed a new dual master cylinder and a combination valve. Also I adjusted the push rod such that it compresses the piston into the master cylinder a bit, that way as soon as you push on the brake pedal it is already at the point where it begins to stop the car. Before that last adjustment there was an inch or so of travel in the pedal where nothing happened. With the above setup, the car stops great. I can not get the wheels to lock up, but the car stops quickly and confidently. I highly suggest installing a new dual master cylinder, it adds safety and enough volume to properly work the brakes. -Andrew Goodney 1956 NY'er -----Original Message----- From: Forward Look Mopar Discussion List [mailto:L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Nick Sperduto Sent: Wednesday, May 22, 2002 9:44 AM To: L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [FWDLK] AAJ brake install question Has anyone installed the aaj kit on a car with factory power brakes. I put the kit in my 56 with factory power brakes, but I can?t get it to stop well. The pedal hits the floor before the wheels will lockup. I?ve bled the brakes three times, there is no air in the brakes or master cylinder. The push rod on the brake pedal is adjusted properly with 0 play (according to the shop manual). The rear brakes are adjust properly, with just a hint of drag. I have noticed that on a factory power brake system in this car, the pedal at normal returned height, is three inches off the floor. On a manual brake setup, the pedal is 4.5 inches off the floor. I?m thinking that there just isn?t enough travel in a power brake pedal setup to properly work the brakes. Unless someone answers me and tells me they put it in their 56 with factory power and it worked fine. Thanks, Nick -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Need an answer fast?
