In the Feb '59 issue of Motor Trend they report on the 59 Plymouth comparing it with Ford and Chevy. One issue the editor brought out was (quote)....One problem that drivers under 5 feet 8 inches encounter is the rear view mirror. When seated high enough to have clear vision over the wheel, the driver finds that the large mirror, close to the wheel, blocks off a large hunk of right forward visibility. All but the head of an adult standing at curb height is blocked off and a child stepping off the curb at a corner would not be seen at all......unquote...Then the article goes on about how taller drivers like the mirror on dash because the roof mounted mirror blocks there vision and how shorter drivers with the dash mounted mirror should use a cushion or buy the 3-way power seat option so they can jack themselves up high enough to clear it. Chrysler must have took note of these problems and come out with the relocation kit. By the way, at the end of the tests, Motor Trend said this about Plymouth "We like it. Of the Big Three tested, this was the best performing and best handling." If you have this magazine check out the cover, the Sport Fury is leading the Ford and Chevy on the old Riverside Raceway in CA. (The Sport Fury pictured looks almost identical to mine (same color). Now if only the body and paint was in that good of shape, maybe someday...... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lou Cortese" <wingsnwheels58@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, May 20, 2002 10:06 AM Subject: [FWDLK] Rear view mirror > Hey,everyone:I attended a local car show yesterday and as usual there were > more Metropolitans then Forward Look cars there. However,I parked my > 58'Belvedere alongside a 57'Windsor with a 2x4 392 under the hood.Nice > car,but it had a neat feature. The interior rear view mirrior was mounted > along the upper edge of the windshield frame. The Windsor's owner told me > about a re-location kit from Mopar he found. It even included a chrome plug > to cover the hole left when you moved the mirror to it's new location.Any > list members out there have such a mod on their car? Thanks,Lou Cortese. > > _________________________________________________________________ > Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com > > -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- > Need an answer fast?
