Re: [FWDLK] electrical question...

Hook up up a volt meter to the battery and note the reading, then start the
engine and turn everything on you will be using. If the voltage now reads
the same, or a little higher, you have enough charging capacity.

I was debating installing an electric water pump in my '61 Newport. Aside
from the stock equipment, I currently have an electric fuel pump, will
soon have an aftermarket stereo (hidden, of course), and was just curious
as to how does one figure out what a charging system can handle? Do I
install everything and run it and see if it runs down the battery and
dies? There has to be some way to figure this out, so if someone could
point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. If its too much
for the current electrical system, what can I do about an alternator? I've
seen planty of large-amp aftermarket ones, but they all connect with one
wire, whereas I have 3, so I wouldn't know what to do with that either.
Any thoughts?
