Yup. You will find that little "snafu" between model years 65 & 66 - 65 converter snout is "small", 66 & up are larger. Sure can create a problem. Converter snout and crank "hole" sizes should always be checked when appropriate anyway - gotta' remember that we are working on "old" iron here - "old" in this case means that "anything could have been done or put in anything by anyone". Wonder how many 66 & later engines were installed in 62 - 65 cars without knowing about the dimensional differences between crank & converter? - wonder how many such swaps had "incureable" vibrations or flex plate breakage? On a related note - be aware that the torque converter changed again in 67 - the "snout" remained the same, but the spline count & size (trans input shaft) was changed. This means that if you change the converter so you can use a later model engine with the early trans, that you cannot use a later than 1966 MY converter. You *can* change the input shaft in the trans so you can use *any* converter for 67 & later, but this requires some semi-major "tranny" work.
