yeah, since you had all that sludge in the engine, it's a good bet you'll
find more sludge in the p/s system

Thanks to everyone who responded.

The consensus is split: about half suggest adjusting the centering
plate, while the other half suggest that sludge and goo are the problem.

I think I'll start with cleaning all of the sludge and goo out by mixing
in a quart of Motor Flush (I think I may start buying that by the case),
and then draining the system.  If that fails, I'll try the adjuster
next.
