Since you have the transmission out and stripped I would suggest that it
would be a good idea to check the trans case for a sand hole. To test for
this you could pressure the lines that enter the trans with water or air. If
there is a leak this should make it show up. Naturally if the volume of
moisture is very small it could be just moisture. Hope this helps.
