Hi all, Pot metal can be re-chromed even if it is in poor shape. The trick is to copper plate it first, then fill the pit holes in with lead solder. the lead solder is then polished down to the level of the parent metal. Do not file it or use crocus cloth. This will badly scratch the metal. the process then requires Nickle plateing, polishing again, and then the final chrome plate. I learnt this from a friend whom works in the plateing shop at Rolls Royce. ( Pymms Lane) Best regards Dave 60 Le Baron sedan. ( England. ) |
