Hello Everyone, I recently had an excellent shop do a complete brake job on my '59 DeSoto: new master and wheel cylinders, new shoes and turned all legal size drums. The car does not have power brakes. The car also had a bad axle and I have a bad back, so I let them do the whole job. It was pricey but throwing my back out again would have been worse(thanks to those on the list that offered me wheel cylinders but I let the shop get them as they were doing the work). The brakes are 100% better, but my queston is this: Are these non-power brakes adequate for these cars? The car stops very well but the pedal seems somewhat hard. I am used to power brakes on some of my other ForwardLook cars, so these brakes feel inferior. Were these brakes problematic for these cars? Thanks ahead of time. Nick Nichols |
