I've had good luck the last 15 years using 2 ultrasound rodent
repellers that I bought from a mail order catalogue (don't
remember now which one but they are probably still available).
They also have a little red test button to give an audible
sound that assures they are working.
The two units in my garage plug into wall outlets and emit a
high frequency sound cone almost 180° wide that are above the
human range and are supposed to also keep some insects away in
addition to various vermin like mice and squirrels.
Works for me - no mice, moths or squirrels!! And no mess or
smells!
