Title: Message

As a rabid Republican, it's not often that I quote Democrats, unless it's to use their own words against them.  Today though, there are no Democrats, there are no Republicans.  Today, we as a country are simply Americans. 

 

In times of great national tragedy and sorrow, we all need to take comfort in each other, pull together as one, and push forward in the face of any adversity.  We all will survive as a nation, we all will survive as a world community.  We all will gather in mourning, we all will gather to rebuild.  We all will search for those responsible, we all will deliver swift retribution.

 

Our prayers go out to all those who have lost friends & family in the tragedy.  Our thanks go out to our list members throughout the world who have expressed their sympathies and support.  Our support goes out to the brave rescuers on the scenes who are putting their lives on the line, to save those of their fellow man.  And our belief is that the Torch of Liberty - even when tragically rocked by cowardly murders - will never go out.

 

I quote FDR's Pearl Harbor Speech:

 

"Always will we remember the character of the onslaught against us.

 

No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.

 

I believe I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost, but will make very certain that this form of treachery shall never endanger us again.

 

Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that that our people, our territory and our interests are in grave danger.

 

With confidence in our armed forces - with the unbounding determination of our people - we will gain the inevitable triumph - so help us God. "
