Got to disagree on the WPC club meets. Its no different that the local shows since all of the judging is by participants. Not much to do with authenticity or necessarily quality of restoration but simply peoples favorite. Much of it depends on promoting done by the owner and how much they impress the other owners. Still fun by all means and worthwhile but don't get your shorts in a wringer if you don't win. No reflection whatsoever on the car as a rule. Have a friend who had a beautiful silver 69 GTX at WPC a few years back and he didn't even get a third against much poorer cars but ones which stood out better. He is a professional body man and did the car correct all the way but it just wasn't as impressive a color combo to most so it lost. Now at an AACA meet that wouldn't have happened since there would have been trained judges but that's a whole different story. Problem at AACA can be judges who still don't know the specific marquee though. Remember loosing at an AACA meet some years ago because my 55 had plastic valve stem covers instead of the correct metal. Never have known for sure if that is correct but still use plastic as a rule. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wayne Graefen" <WGraefen@OMNIGLOBAL.NET> To: <L-FORWARDLOOK@LISTS.PSU.EDU> Sent: Monday, August 06, 2001 7:59 AM Subject: Re: [FWDLK] Corruption at local car show! > If I can add one comment from innumerable experiences with show judging over > the years, it is that the larger the show sponsoring organization, the more > fair, accurate, legitimate are the award results.
