Hi, I've a friend who called me this afternoon. He has a problem on his 57 Imperial: the car doesn't run in forward ranges (D, 1 or 2). The car drives in rear. he has put the car on jacks (rear wheels free from ground) and the trans. shifts but if he put the car on the ground, no motion.. I think it's a problem with the front clutch as it seems that this clutch is operative only in fwd range. Note that: - The trans. was rebuilt 3 years ago and the car hasn't been droven more than 500 miles (with extended times of non driving) - The problem occured on a coast: the car couldn't gain the top of the coast so the guy towed the car (with rear wheels on road..) to his home. Don't know how miles.. What do you think of this problem ? -- Philippe COURANT (Pau, France) Imperial 57 Crown convertible Buick 58 Roadmaster sedan - American Car Club de France (ACCF) : http://www.accf.com - Chrysler Imperial France : http://www.ifrance.com/c-i-f - Cadillac " Standard of Excellence " : http://www.ifrance.com/accf-cad - SportsCars : http://www.ifrance.com/accf-sprtcar |
