Hello Ray,
Regarding the chrome prep, this is where I left off in getting
my interior steel pieces (such as the garnish moldings) re-plated. In an
effort to save money, the plater suggested the following: his company would
strip the pieces and put down a layer of copper on each. Then I would dig out
any pits and fill them with a special low temp solder and file them smooth.
He would then replate and polish them. The pit filling process goes very slowly
for me, and my workspace and time are very limited, hence I cannot report here
today on how the process turned out!
Regarding the Astradome on your 62 Chrysler, Jeff carter
advertises in WPC News as having lots of experience and spare parts for
the domed dashes. Contact him at

Subject: [FWDLK] Saratoga....
Hello everyone. I found
a 61 or 62 Saratoga convertible yesterday. Before I squander any money,
how hard is it going to be to find the plastic bubble thing that covers
the gauges between the steering wheel and the dash? This on has a couple
of holes in it. On the chrome subject, would it be viable for a person to
strip the chrome and fill in pits on various peices before going to the
plater? Is this something an individual would be able to do, or is it
better left to a shop? Thanks for any help. Ray 59 Coronet
