Re: [FWDLK] Did DeSoto make a 391 cu in ?

I know what you mean Dave!

I get asked funny questions about my 325 Dodge hemis too like, gee didn't know they made that small! etc.  I also get comments about my Studebaker Avanti 289 like, that's a Ford engine right?

Hmm....I guess if we had to comment at shows about engine cids from an '06 Stanley or a '17 Essex we might be off a bit too! (not even sure about those years but - you get the point!)

Bill, This may be a typo. He may have meant 392 or 341 and typed wrong. Also, I have found that the great majority of the uneducated (non car hobbyists and younger enthusiasts) public think that Chrysler only made one Hemi size. The 392 was used so extensively in racing, especially drag racing, that it was the engine that got all the press. Half the people at cars shows that ask think my 315 Dodge Hemi is a 392. Dave Homstad56 Dodge D500

This 1956 DeSoto is advertised as having a 391 hemi.
I don't recall those being available in '56 or any
other year.  Anyone know?

Thanks,

It will always work out cheaper (cost:horsepower ratio) to just put a
bigger engine in the thing.
