Hi Nick and all, When I had my 55 Plymouth and removed the tank, the filler neck did not come out. I always had a problem of filling it as it would burp up gas up thru the vent tube, go round the filler neck and try to jump on my pants. One of the fella's on the List told me to put a paper towel around the nozzle and put it in the filler neck too keep the burp contained. It worked just fine. I think you should remove the rubber hoses and plug the tank holes to prevent getting anything in their and plug the filler tube and fill up colored water or some fluid and see where it is coming from before cutting. When replacing the vent hose, use NAPA # 9807 which is a molded hose that has a 90 degree bend rather than the straight one that came on the car and just bent ot the 90 degree. Also if any one is replacing the heater bypass hose on the firewall use the NAPA # 10700 hose which is a 180 degree molded hose which is a little longer, but just shorten it and it is exact. Gosh!! I went south for a few days and all our snow left us. But if John has anything to do with it it will return--thanks John!!!
