I have two 55 Dodges, the gas tanks are the same, if not very close. Are
you sure it is not the connecting hose to the filler tube. and did you check
the o ring gasket where the sending unit is, through the access hole in the
trunk? I have had it leak from there when you completely fill the tank, and
run down the side from the filler tube.
I have never had a problem with the filler tube, but if I did I would try
the easy way out.
Pull the gas tank, seal the bottom of the filler tube with a plug of some
kind, and fill it with a gas tank sealer, then, drain it out, You may want
to give it two coats. But the inside of the tube will need to be cleaned
,maybe with something like a long round wire brush, simular to an old baby
bottle brush., with a longer handle. You need to use your imagination a
little, but I'm sure it will work.
