Re: [FWDLK] Defogger Setup

All,

I have a defogger in my '58 Plumouth that matches the one Roger Howard
described. The blowers are single speed and the switch (on the Plymouth)
mounts in a hole under the heater knob under the dash. There is a
pre-stamped hole there. It sometimes needs reamed to make the switch fit.
The switch is a on-off type with a chrome lever about 3/4" long. The air
inlet in the package shelf is a regular MoPar speaker grille and bezel. I
have an adapter like Dave described in another car that will allow a blower
and speaker (or two speakers for you real sound buffs!) in the same hole. It
came from a '72 Newport with a stereo radio. The '70's defrosters had a two
speed blower like Dave described. I found an off-on-on toggle at an
electronics store. I used it on another guys car where he wanted a two speed
blower and a toggle that worked more like a "factory" style switch instead
of on-off-on.

Check out the other years while you are out "yarding". You never know what
you might find! The '58 Plymouth dash defroster vents were also used as rear
defroster vents in (if memory serves) some of the Baracudas (?) in the late
'60's or early '70's. I saw a complete blower assy. last year at Carlisle.
The plastic vents even had the 1958 part number on them.

Larry
