Ray,
Chrysler called it the deck lid false spare tire
cover, and was a bolt-on option offered for Plymouth only. In 1959, the vast
majority (if not all) of Plymouth Sport Furys had them. I believe the
customer would have had to specifically delete that option, if he didnt want
it.
Imperial deck lids had that spare tire impression stamped
right in at the factory. I don't think Imperial offered a "straight"
deck lid, certainly not in 1959.
For 1959 Dodges, Desotos and Chryslers, only a medallion for
the deck lid was available.
I do not have a parts book for the 1960 Mopars, but I have
seen the fake covers on Plymouths in the sales brochures and
promos.

Hello
everyone. Just surfing the last couple of days I have found three
different cars with that large silver plate on the trunk that I thought
was an Imperial only option. One was a 59 Coronet, one a 60 Plymouth
Fury, and I don't remember the last one except that it was a car you
don't normally see with this thing on th trunk. Was this an option on
all cars, or were these cars modified..... Just for my own curiosity
could someone give me some info on this? Thanks alot. Ray 59
