I'm not sure what the difference is, but take it from me, a shop put the wrong stuff in my intrepid trans and it was all screwed up, it wouldn't shift right. When driving around 40 mph and it goes to downshift out of overdrive, it would shudder. It had some trans problems when I first got it so I thought it was just on it's way out. I drove it that way for a year and then realized there was a different kind of fluid. I boughtt the new fluid and a filter and changed it and all the shifting problems in the trans went away. Of course 6 months later, the trans went all togehter, but I tink it was because I wasn't able to drain the bad fluid out of the torque converter. I didn't remember the fluid was more expensive, but I don't really remember. So what ever you do, use the correct fluid. Some trans shops use dextron and put an additive in it to make it ATF+3. But Personally I'm not a fan of doing it that way.
