Hey guys, Its Richard Allen. If you remember I was on here about a year ago. I had and continue to have a 1959 Plymouth Bellvedere, Gold in color, sweet in disposition. She has a documented 67 thou on her. Over the last year Ive had the transmission rebuilt, Parking brake frixed, radiator replaced and various little thigs fixed. Even with low milage you have to fix little things occasionaly. I was having a problem with my leaf springs.................Im not sure but that may be fixed just by going and having my car placed on a lift.n I wonder how that is possible..............lol. Anyway Im not sure if it is fixed, it just seems to be straight. Anyone else had this problem? Well, Im in process of working up a street custom I think. I've done the restoration thing with her...................and thats nice...........................but man is it expensive. I may as well fix her up with new parts and get her the modern day comforts like disk breats, adjustable seating, air-conditioning and the like. I do like the basic stock look of her so most all of that will stay the same. Most of it.................... LOL but shes not gonna be forced to wait while I scavange parts that take sometimes months to find and get just to be %100 like the build sheet said. I hope Im not offending the purists here. Besides, shes a post 4door and not a designated clasic, though I think shes top notch! LOL Now, I have a request. Anyone out there have a Valence for a 59 they'd part with. This seems to be the hardest thing for me to find. Im thinking of having one fabricated.............thats real expensive though, any ideas?. And I was just told that most chroming places will not straighten bumpers. If thats the case I need a great condition front bumper as well. And thus I think I'll need some more side trim for both sides.. (quite a number of small dings and the like, parking accidents.) Any suggestions? Or should I just be satisfied with OK condition chrome. Now for the customising questions. Anyone know of any adjustable Cadilac seats that will fit in the 59? year and make? Will a TV style stearing wheel from another Chrysler of the same year fit the car? If so does anyone know where I can find one or a reproduction of the same? For the engine I think Im just going to give my 318 Poly dual exhaust and a Carter 4-barrell. Anyone know if I need a special manifold to work with that?.................and what kind. where to buy, etc? Any ideas on advancing timing and the like to beef her up? Anything short of rebuilding her or overboarring her would be apreciated. If later on I wanted to add a monster motor that I could redily get performance parts for what would you guys suggest?........................what have you actually seen in one? Anyway I know thats alot of questions, especially for an introduction but I figure its OK since I allready know some of you gents. So happy motoring..................also I apologize if I ruffled anyones feathers with the mention of customisation........... but for me it is a logical choice................and Ive allways been a bit of a maveric. LOL Till then............................ric |
