Jack :

The wire from the + on the coil goes to the distributor, while
the wire from the - on the coil goes to the ignition switch.
This is the opposite of the setup on your 1956.  Also note the
1955 has no ballast resistor.  As the system is 6 volt, there is
no need for one.
