John, 1. I think the exhaust manifold bolt pattern is the same for all Dodge Poly engines, but I am not positive. I will look up the gasket P/N and let you know if it is the same. Dodge Hemi and Poly intake manifolds are interchangeable, but exhaust manifolds are NOT. Why can't you just disconnect the exhaust pipes at the manifold and reconnect to the 270? 2. The 4bbl manifold from a 315 will NOT fit on a 270. This is because the 315 is a stroked block that is taller than the 270, and that makes it wider. A 4 bbl system on a 315 Dodge is not common, so hold on to it. 3. I have compiled a list of ideas and sources that I used to rebuild my 56 D500 engine. Most of the info will apply to your 315, and some info to motors in general. If you would like a copy, I can send it to you. If any body else on the list is interested, I can send it to them too. I'm at one now. Somewhere in the future the 315 in my 56 Dodge Sierra will need a rebuild. (Leaky seals, noisy lifters, smoking) It currently runs and has a new dual exhaust system. I have just found a VERY rusty but very original 56 Coronet 2dr HT with a good running 2 barrel 270. I can get the whole thing for less than $500. My plan is to drop the 270 into my wagon and leave it there for a few years and rebuild my 315 later on. This would make my car much more drivable in the meantime. Not to mention deferring the rebuild costs into the future. My main questions are: 1)Will the 270 bolt on to the 315 exhaust manifolds allowing me to keep the dual exhaust setup I currently have? B) Will the 4B intake from the 315 fit on to the 270? Is a 4B on the 270 a good idea or will I be better off leaving the 2B alone. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
