Hello all, Just got back from the Forest Grove Concours d'Elegance (or whatever fancy French name they use). Never have seen so many "classic" cars in one place before, it was a great show. But it was thin on MoPars. They were highlighting the 100th anniversary of Packard, and there were lots of awesome Packards there. But now the important stuff: the only forward look cars there were a '59 Dodge Custom Royal 4d hardtop, which the guy says he spent $70K restoring (WHAT????????). It was beautiful, but not $70K worth, jeez that's a lot of money. . . it took 3rd in class (MoPar 1951-59). The other forward look car, which was 2nd in class was a Denham built 300B, he says that the Denham built car came with a few muscle items, was stripped of 300 badges, and was also one of 16 1956 300s that came with a Torqueflite. Very nice car but he only got 2nd in class. 1st in class was a beautiful '51 Chrysler Imperial convertible, one of 462 built, which as recently as 1995 was upside down in a junkyard, with about 1/2 the car missing. Very good quality, hard to beat. No I didn't enter Mr. Finzzz, maybe next year!!! Mark mjh |
