The Plymouth Belmont. I think it's a '54 Chrysler Corp. concept car.
Actually, I think it was supposed to have been the Packard Belmont. My
own opinion. Somewhere around here I have a 1952 (or thereabouts) issue
of Motor Trend or Car Life or something with an article about Packard.
And in that article, much to my surprise, was an artist's rendering of a
Packard dream car that in every detail matched the Belmont, except for
the front grille bar. The bar in the rendering was of typical Packard
design. I've been wanting to tell this to somebody for about a year,
now.
I'll find the article and the image and post them.
And here's another thing. I was just leafing through the April 1998
issue of Collectible Automobile. The issue with the cover article on
the '56 Plymouth wagon. In it there's also an article on Virgil Exner
Jr.'s "thesis car," the sports car he designed as his thesis for his
Master of Fine Arts at Notre Dame University sometime about 1956. Guess
where the placement of the Fury emblem on the fin of the '60 Plymouth
and the '61 Dodge/Dart front fender bulges came from? That car. Did
Exner Sr. take from Exner Jr.?
