Had the car out lastnight. I am getting a severe vibration that starts at 45mph and goes away at 65mph. Any suggestions. I am leaning towards a u-joint problem. The front u joint(ball&trunion) looks like a joy to work on. The rear seemed ok last time I checked it. I just don't understand why at only these speeds I have the vibration. Could it be the bias ply tires bulge out to due centrifugal force and change the pinion angle at these speeds (I like this theory!)? Putting the trans in neutral has no effect. Are U joints readily available? Looking through the stacks of reciepts from past owners shows a U joint from an 84 Jeep being used at some point (could be the one that's still on it) Thanks Todd 58 Plymouth B-B-B-Belvedere Sport Sedan |
