although i've never replaced the front seal on a powerflite,{im about to start an over hual on my torqueflite},I have replaced several on g.m. trannys, and I would think they are similar,I use a small screwdriver, and needle nose pliers, and carefully pry the metal edge of the seal being carefull not to damage the housing, until the seal is disfigured enough to remove it with the needle nose pliers, when installing the new one they have a habit of jumping out{you start one side, tap the other side to keep it square, and it jumps out),so I take a scrap of wood, drill a hole big enough to slip over the input shaft, and hit the wood,{the piece of wood being larger than the seal] this helps to keep it square, and from jumping out,or use a real store bought seal driver,be sure to oil the lip of the seal prior to installation,The front seal is one of those pain in the butt jobs, a 3 dollar part, thats a snap to change, but a bear to get to.Good one have!
