Dieter :
All 119½" wheelbase Dodges in 1941 were sold
as Luxury Liner models. The American models came as Luxury Liner DeLuxe
(D-19S) or Luxury Liner Custom (D-19C). They had a 91-bhp, 217.8 cid
engine with 3.25" bore and 4.375" stroke (Chrysler's small-block 6).
The Canadian version came as Luxury Liner
(D-19) or Luxury Liner Special (D-19S) with an 88-bhp, 218.0 cid engine.
The bore was 3.375" with a 4.06" stroke (Chrysler's big-block 6).
As for production, 49,579 lower-priced
series 4 door sedans were built. Total production of the
lower-priced series came to 105,746 American and 717 Canadian.
The higher-priced series 4 door sedan had
72,067 units built. Total production of the series came to 128,713
American units and 1,821 Canadian.
Taking an educated guess as to body style
production versus total model production, the Canadian Luxury Liner (D-19) 4
door sedan production probably came in around 334 units.
The price in Canada, new in 1941, was $1,514
CDN, with a shipping weight of 3,280 pounds.
The higher priced Luxury Liner Special
(D-19S) 4 door sedan probably had about 1,190 units built. (The
convertible and Town Sedan were not built in Canada, but were imported from
Detroit). The 1941 price, Canadian dollars, was $1,578, with a shipping
weight of 3,350 pounds, for the 4 door sedan.
No matter how you look at it, this is not a
common vehicle. I do not gave information, however, on how much this
vehicle would be worth today.
By the way, Chrysler of Canada sold a
Plymouth-based Dodge in those years that was a bit more popular. It
came as Kingsway (D-20) $1,203 for the sedan; Kingsway
Special (D-20S), $1,227; DeLuxe
(D-21) $1,287; and DeLuxe Special (D-21S) $1,318. Production of the
Kingsway and Kingsway Special totalled 7,491 while the DeLuxe and DeLuxe Special
totalled 7,265.

Subject: [FWDLK] 41 Dodge Luxury
Liner
Hi Everyone
I realize this is not exactly forwardlook
stuff but I know ther are some of you who may have knowledge about this. I
just looked at a 41 Dodge which is for sale by a woman who needs some money
and called me to see if I was interested. I took my standard Chrysler catalog
and went to look at the car and this is what I found. It appears to be a
Custom Series D19, 4Dr sedan, and matches the picture in my book. The car is
original, including paint, virtually no rust anywhere, the doors fit and open
perfectly, 6 cyl. fluid drive, and 46,000 original miles. The woman is the
second owner but the car has not been driven much in 20 years. The car was
built in Windsor, Ontario. and she claims that someone who appraised it once
said it was very rare because it is a Luxury Liner. There is no information in
my book about the existence of a Luxury Liner but the car has Luxury Liner
stamped right into the rear bumper and the emblem on the clove box also says
Luxury Liner. There is nothing on the car that indicates custom series or
delux etc. The ID tag says D19. Any info about this would be appreciated as
well as any idea of the value. This car would make an ideal #1 restoration if
anyone is interested.
Thanks in advance
Dieter
