Marko,

A few ideas below:

Dave Homstad
56 Dodge D500

I thought Finland was a democracy. Who voted those robbers into office? Can
you vote them back out??

A "T" fitting is a good idea. I have used them before. Yes, there is a
special socket that fits on the sending unit to remove and install it.

Sometimes the little soft metal plugs that close off the drilled passages in
the carb will leak. This will slowly drain the gas from the float bowl. Over
longer periods, the gas may simply evaporate. The engine will not start
until gas is pumped back up to the carb. Using the accelerator pump when the
bowl is dry is not good for the accelerator pump piston seal. It is better
crank the starter and wait until you have gas in the carb, otherwise you are
only pumping air. You can also install an inline electric fuel pump and only
use it for 10 seconds just before start up. This puts gas in the carb so the
accelerator pump has something to pump for instant starts. I have not
decided if this is a good idea, or is it better to crank the engine with the
standard fuel pump for 10 seconds to build oil pressure before starting an
engine that has been sitting.

I would be interested in copies of any articles you may have in those Car
Life Magazines concerning the 56 Dodge.
